UK area codes
Also known as subscriber trunk dialling (STD codes), area codes are used to connect calls to numbers outside of the local area. For example, if you live in Cardiff and wanted to make a call to a London phone number you would need to add the area code for London before dialling the local number.
Each area of the UK is assigned to a specific area code, either beginning with 01 or 02.
In order to find more information about a number or an area, search for a specific town or city, or type in the dialling code.
